Thirty Days of Fic: Day 7 (an epic)

01) Something from your very first fandom
02) Something from your current favorite fandom
03) Your all-time favorite fic
04) A good romance
05) A "bad romance"
06) Something from your favorite author
07) An epic
Well, this choice was actually pretty easy. I do love me epic fic-- the longer the better, really, because I read very quickly, and so, I really do need several hundred thousand words for something to last longer than an afternoon. So I collect epic fics, in every fandom where I can. That said, I knew immediately want I wanted to pick as soon as I saw today's prompt.
A thing that I never read is babyfic, or kidfic. I dislike in general having a family element introduced into a romance-- I think I tend to feel it's diluting the relationship I went to the story for. I am shallow. However! To every rule there is an exception.
One of the first fics I read when I got into the (New) Doctor Who fandom was actually several fics, an entire long running 'verse thereof. I speak, of course, of The Chaos'verse by
earlgreytea68, which I'm pretty sure anyone reading this has already read, but whatever. This fic (fics) is amazing beyond words. It single-handedly persuaded me that children did not have to wipe out the romantic dynamic between their parents. Simultaneously, it kind of ruined all other fics where Ten has kids for me, because I can no longer imagine it going any other way. Seriously, if you somehow have not read these fics, go do so. Link above goes to the author's masterlist which has 'em all in chronological order. Remember how I said on day one that I'd read fic about that author's original character? Well, in this verse, I have done so; several fics later in the timeline for this verse are nearly entirely about one or the other of the kids, and they were just as amazing as the rest. If these two ever had kids, they would be these kids.
(Also: the scene where four year old Brem crosses his parent's timeline and ends up trying to save his mother from this other time lord in a leather jacket who apparently kidnapped her is pretty epic on it's own.)
Deathmatch Totals:
...man, Doctor Who is really pulling ahead here.
